Summertime Healthy Living Tips

Summer is here! A change of season calls for a change in routine, a revamped diet, and of course, a new exercise regimen that suits the weather.

Eat Healthy and Light

Eat light, small, frequent meals. Heavy meals with large amounts of carbohydrates and fats give rise to a lot of heat in the body. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables that have high water content – such as oranges, melon, watermelon, tomatoes, etc. This Summertime Cobb Salad is a delicious, healthy, summertime meal.

Drink Plenty of Water

Heat and sweat in the summer months can leave your body dehydrated, causing unwanted health outcomes such as fever and chills. Keep yourself well hydrated by drinking at least 2 to 3 litres of water every day.

Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine

Alcohol, sugary drinks and coffee all can leave you dehydrated quickly. If at all possible, try to reduce the amount of these favourite beverages, especially during hot weather. Plain or flavoured water is a good substitute. Check out our Fruit Infused Water recipes here.

Wear Sunscreen

Apply a good waterproof sunscreen to all exposed parts of your body and reapply it every three to four hours to ensure that your skin remains protected. Choose a good mineral sunscreen over chemical when possible.

Adopt a Summer Skin Care Routine

Summer can wreak havoc on your skin if proper care is not taken. Excessive oil and sweat can cause troublesome irritation, rashes, prickly heat, and exacerbation of acne. Wash your face often and make sure to keep your skin hydrated. Treat your skin to a Beauty IV Drip for the ultimate summer glow. This beauty vitamin formula that is collagen building & anti-aging. Ideal for hair, skin & nails. It contains high dosages of Vitamin C, Biotin, B12, & Glutathione and 500ml IV Fluids for serious hydration.

Keep Up Your Exercise Routine

Use your regular routine as your basis and add something new for a bit of added variety. Here are a few fun outdoor activities to incorporate into your summer routine.

Live in the Present – and Relive It

Summertime usually means fun activities and vacations. We spend all year craving a little extra time to spend with our loved ones but it always goes by so fast. Don’t just photograph and ‘selfie’ your way through summer this year. Get a box for all your memories and save the amazing moments you’ll want to remember later. You can bring home a shell you got at the beach, a movie ticket stump or even the receipt from a fun event you shared with friends. It can all go right into your box of memories and precious moments to relive for years to come.

Stay Healthy!
